Makher is an independent scholarly publishing services studio helping academic journals and publishers manage the technical, editorial, and production processes behind their publications.

We bring together expertise in journal production, digital publishing systems, metadata, and web technologies to support the work that takes a manuscript from submission to publication and keeps a journal running smoothly along the way.

Built on Practical Experience

Makher draws on hands-on experience in scholarly publishing, science communication, and web development.

Our approach is informed by the day-to-day realities of academic publishing: preparing articles for publication, working with editorial workflows, managing journal websites, and adapting publishing processes to evolving technical requirements.

We understand that even relatively small journals must navigate an increasingly complex publishing environment, often with limited technical resources. Our role is to make that work more manageable.

We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Public Knowledge Project, Crossref, or other publishing infrastructure providers. Our work with their platforms and standards is based on practical experience and the publicly available tools and documentation that support the scholarly publishing community.
